Along the window sill in the still of night two escapees put into effect their plan. When the darkness filled the house, just when the lights went on for the family were readying for their weekly special meeting, once they were engaged the escapees chased each other through the hall as they regularly did, so as not to raise suspicion, for the plot was a foot. No one was to suspect a thing and by the time the family had realised it would be too late.
The family were giggling and talking, their sounds were fading into the distance, as the sisters then made it further through the house into the darkest room in the furthest corner. Sahara jumps onto the bed and walks onto the window, as she does Tink warns her not to interfere, it would be her and only her that would be given the glory of breaking free, Sahara obeyed sitting behind the bed rest on the window sill awaiting for her sister, whom was missing a leg, quietly and patiently she watched her sister struggle to climb, keeping quiet Tink persevered, she would endure and break free, this kept her motivated, she would not cry for help, her family would not know, she would break free!
Once on the window sill Tink took her paw and swiped at the homemade fly screen, her endurance paid off, the netting pulled away from the vulcro just as predicted. Weeks of planning, weeks of observations and many months of dreaming were at an end, Tink could feel her freedom was near.
As Tink ripped her paw away from the netting she realised her mistake too late, her claws have always failed her, the thrust she used caused her paw to bounce and her body to wriggle, all the father’s knick knacks on the side fell to the ground. The sisters silently wished it had gone unnoticed, Tink tried again to free herself, causing another thump.
Without question fumbling footsteps were closing in on them, within moments the sudden light dazed the sisters, they had been caught redhanded, not a noise came from Tink who was stuck to the netting, not a movement came from Sahara, just two pairs of guilty eyes staring at the human daughter, what could possibly be said?
The Daughter freed Tink who was now more upset about being caught than stuck to the netting. Once free she sulked away, Sahara refused to move, for she believed if she remained still perhaps they would think her invisible. Sahara watched as the father repaired the hole her sister had diligently made, the plot was lost, upon realising there was no hope of escape tonight, Sahara ran from room and the door was shut!
Both Tink and Sahara stayed close to the family that night perhaps it was guilt, shame or perhaps they were looking for comfort and forgiveness. Who really knows the inward workings of the felines, but one thing we can say, when sisters put away their differences they can work together for a common purpose.
