Sweet memories

I stand afar, grappling into the distance
Tightening onto you, as you step out of reach
I wait to hear your voice calling my name
I need to see your eyes search for mine one last time.

I’m not afraid to walk away
But I’m afraid, oh sweet memories
Of joy and love as we were one
They do fade into forgotten histories.

Can you hear my voice that calls your name
Can you see my eyes still hold sweet fondness
Or have you forgotten as the cold stone sets
I can feel the distance between us.

I stand tall and hold my own head high
Learning to live without your tendering ways
As your heart turns away from where I stand
I am yearning for the day I spread my wings to fly.

I’m not afraid to walk away
But I’m afraid, if sweet memories do fade away.
I can feel the distance between us
Lost time fall into the shadows of wondered mysteries.

Can you remember the warmth we held
Turn around and see the joy we weld
Not too long ago I saw the sweetness in your eyes
We were bound so inseperable we filled the room so bright.
Now I stand seperate without your warming light.

I’m not afraid to walk away but I’m afraid,
If sweet memories do fade away.
I can feel the distance but I’m not afraid to walk away. But I’m afraid, oh sweet memories don’t fade away!

And when the day comes for my wings to spread,
Past the heavy stone and the words unsaid,
I’ll fly to the place where your heart remains,
Where memories are sweet and free from pains.
